Hello friends,
I'm looking for troll stories and thought maybe some of you might know of some! An organization near where I live is doing a whole event with trolls sometime this fall. They said that they would like to have a historical story with a central troll character which they are then planning to use as their mascot, so if any of you have any favorite troll stories that you think might fit the bill, please let me know! You can send me a message my oops page or reach me by email at: info@worldofdiff.org Thanks!
Lindsay

Comment by Eric Wolf on January 23, 2011 at 12:57pm Many times trolls are called Ogres in other cultures - so also look for Ogre stories
Books of swedish folk lore are useful too...
Comment by Jonatha Wright on January 23, 2011 at 8:47am Hi Lindsay, Harold and I have rarely told Troll stories. I did pick up a book at our library sale: A Book of Ogres and Trolls by Ruth Manning-Sanders, 1972. Maybe her titles, which include country of origin, will help your successful Google search. The ones I listed are the troll stories only.
"Jon and the Troll Wife" from Iceland; "The Troll's Little Daughter" from Denmark; "Triril, Litil, and the Birds" from Iceland; "The Gold Knob" from Iceland; "Sigurd the King's Son" from Iceland; "Cow Bu-cola" from Iceland ;and "Nils in the Forest" from Denmark. Enjoy your search! Jonatha
