Is maith an scealtaí an aimsir--time is a good storyteller

The holiday season is a time for looking back-- and looking forward. What happened last year? What is ahead? Only Time will tell and we have to wait for the tale it spins.

For me, and for you, in all likelihood, 2011 was an adventure story. In Ohio, we had record-breaking weather (more rain in 12 months than we usually get in 16). Other places fared even worse. Some of us found out "Your job is safe" can be a bigger lie than "The check is in the mail" and a few discovered new opportunities that out-weighed the disappointments. I watched two of my four kids graduate from college (one magna cum laude, one summa--Momma gets to brag!) and faced the temporary loss of one family member (military deployment) and the expected permanent loss of another. One child moved back in for a few months, another is moving 1,000 miles away in a few days. And one finished the year in a (no real injury) car crash--the old year really did go out with a bang--and the deployment of an airbag.

But without the adventure, there is no story. "They lived happily ever after" is the end of a tale and I kinda want this story to go on  for a while yet!  There will be conflict, loss, sorrow in 2012. There will also be love, gain and joy, although we may have to look for it. So here's t whatever comes, be it action-adventure, romantic comedy or drama (I could do without Sci-Fi, though...)!

To your health and wealth--slainté is tainté!
