Eric Wolf left a comment for Geraldine BuckleyWith her trademark wit, warmth and humor, Geraldine Buckley
has been involved in storytelling, performance poetry and conducting creative
workshops for over twenty years in the US, Canada, England, Holland, South
Africa and Spain.
Through folk stories and tales from her own life Geraldine
takes the audience on a magic carpet ride of adventure, laughter and insight
that leaves listeners both entertained and moved. And Geraldine has stories! In her eclectic past she has been, among other
things, a minister in a large London church, a radio DJ, a television
newsreader, an events director, a ghostwriter, a food critic, a magazine editor
and an award winning performance poet.
One of Geraldine’s recent adventures was being the Chaplain
in the largest men’s prison in Maryland – a medium security facility which
inspired her to create her true, hilarious, one woman storytelling show
“Destination? Slammer!” which has received critical acclaim at festivals – both
mainstream and fringe - and many other venues.
Geraldine has an MA in communication from Regent University;
she is a graduate of the Teaching Artist Institute and lives in Frederick, MD –
45 minutes from Washington DC.
