Ohio Order for the Preservation of Storytelling
Supporting the art of storytelling throughout Ohio.
The 2012 National Storytelling Conference will take place June 28-July 1, 2012 at the Cincinnati Marriott at River Center. Hotel rooms at special reduced prices for conference attendees will be available beginning July 15, 2011. This will be “A Conference to Remember!” – a theme with double- meaning, proposed by Willy Claflin (and Maynard!) to honor all our storytelling heroes who have passed on as well as one focused on our learning for the future. We hope you’ll save the dates and watch for more news to come about this exciting storytelling gathering!
The conferenc
e logo includes the Akan “Sankofa” mythical bird, which looks backward to reflect while moving forward. It reminds us to take the best wisdom of the past so we can reach our full potential in the future.
As one of the host states, with Kentucky, OOPS! has been given one yearʼs free membership in NSN! This comes with many perks for those of you who belong to OOPS! In addition to this fine offer, all OOPS! members will be able to join NSN (National Storytelling Network) this year with a $10
discount, or $50 rather than $60. And there is more! An OOPS!/NSN member will be able to register for the NSN Conference Full Weekend Package and receive a $100 discount!
These are such fine opportunities. It has been many years since a conference was near enough for OOPS! members in OH and surrounding states to actually drive a car to attend! The last time that I remember was a dozen years ago or so when the conference was in Indianapolis. These conferences come highly recommended by many, including me! What a terrific opportunity for storytellers from all over the US and beyond to meet, network, learn, grow, share, and be thoroughly thrilled with stories of all genre and types.
